Being in credit card debt is not a happy situation. You end up with no money for things you need, much less for the things you want. Unfortunately, many people get into credit card debt because of buying too many things that was wanted and not necessarily needed. This happenes to Americans all the time and they form huge balances on their credit card.
Some people make decent money, a $40,000 annual salary, but cannot afford the $650-a-month interest payments on their card, let alone pay off the principal. This is therefore some serious credit card debt.
This story is too often repeated. Not necessarily with the same specifics, but definitely with the same amounts of debt.
Is There A Solution
People try to figure out what to do. They believe it would be hard and they can't do it alone. One measure, if possible is to transfer the balance to a credit card that offers zero interest for a year. You can then set a goal to pay it off in one year.
You can create a budget and track your fixed expenses and estimated food and other costs. You can also carry it with you at all times. This helps to keep you from buying unnecessary items. Your budget sheet will tell you exactly what you can and cannot afford. You might therefore be living on a shoe-string budget.
When you have little money you can be forced to improvise with gifts, entertainment and other fun stuff. You can start variuos health and sporting activities.
If you can continue with this you would be able to pay off all your debt after a year of hard work and determination. When you are debt free you can set a strict budget every month. You would be aware of frivolous spending, even though you may get the urge to buy something you don’t need. By this time you will create self discipline and you can reward yourself when the time is right. The hard work will eventually payoff.
People may be able to work out their problems on their own, but for others it is much easier to work with a professional debt counselor to get rid of their debt. If you’re in a debt situation, access your problems, and try to figure out what the best solution would be for you. Don’t hesitate to talk to a debt counselor. Their services are usually free.
